I am a dancer/avid salsa music collector turned DJ. I started off dancing salsa in late 2004 and this helped me to realize the depth of the music that I had listened to but never really understood. It wasn’t until I was deeply engaged in my hobby (music collection) that I realized that I love this music more than the dance itself. I then started to become a salsa addict. I started to hang out more with my friend Jon (DJ Vino) and realized that I had an ear for music. I then began to accompany him to some events and soon I stood in for him as a guest DJ at The Space in Washington D.C. I also started to do guest DJ work with DJ Neo at Geisha Lounge. We would go back and forth pushing each other to play good music. I then started to get my own gigs with Go Go Earl Rush of Stuck on Salsa Productions and Mr. Mambo at the D.C. Dance Collective. I then go my first house DJ gig with Clavekazi Dance Company for their Second Sunday Socials. Recently I have played at the North Carolina Salsa Festival for the Cobo Brothers Dance Company. I was invited to play on the All Star Salsa Cruise in Playa Del Carmen Mexico, The All White party put on by Stuck on Salsa, and The Inaugural Party also thrown by Stuck On Salsa. I have been invited to DJ at the Chicago International Salsa Congress and also the Washington DC Salsa Congress. In addition to my DJ work I also started The Scene magazine: Salsa in The DMV. This is Washington DC’s first salsa magazine. I will also DJ at the magazine release party associated with this magazine as well. I have future engagements in Philadelphia, Richmond, and Virginia Beach. For information please contact mambolorenzo@gmail.com or renzo@thescenemagdc.com

Phone: 401-632-5730 Website: http://www.djsaoko.com DJ Saoko was born and raised in the oil town of Cabimas, Venezuela. Salsa was a part of most everyone life, when he was growing up. Salsa could be heard and seen in TV shows, radio stations, public transportation and in the neighborhood. His father frequently bought salsa vinyls at that time, and they were played in his house often. At the age of 8, he remembers chipping in with his sisters to buy his first album, “Siembra”, by Willie Colon and Ruben Blades. DJ Saoko received salsa influence from his neighbors’s friends, since they used to have a salsa band named “Saoko’s Orquestra”. Based on this he decided to name himself DJ Saoko. Ever since his teenage years he has liked to share his music with others, and his favorite way to do this is by being a DJ. DJ Saoko has been collecting Salsa as long as he can remember. In 2001 he moved to the Rhode Island area, near Boston, with his music collection. He was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a good-sized salsa scene in Rhode Island and Boston. In the same year he said to himself “why not become a DJ?” And that is how things got started for him.

I always had a passion for music since I was a little. I had performed in talent shows (Jerry Rivera) when I was in middle school. My father and I are die hard Salseros. So all we listened to was Salsa(non-commercial) in our home since I can remember. So Salsa was always in my heart. The real start is when I started to dance socially, then meet Nector Garcia (Springfield) and he taught me how to dance Salsa in a structure manner. Then I ended up meeting Benji Diaz (Rumberos) and joined his dance team. I had performed at the CT Salsa fest 4 years ago. Then I ended up becoming a Instructor at Rumberos were I taught for a few years. I stop teaching due to my strong interest in DJ'ing at our "Salsa Nite" at Wicked Wolf 3 years ago. So I have been DJ'ing for 3 years as a "Tru Skool Salsa/Salsa Brava" DJ. Now I also DJ on Saturdays in downtown New Haven for our " Latin Party Nites". Which consist of Salsa/Mambo/Cha-Cha/Reggeaton/Hip Hop/Reggea/House/Techno/Funk/R&B. Yes, all of this in one night. It gets to a point where the owners of the club have to let me play till 2am, not 130. Crowd demands it. Lol. But I'm honor to be asked to be one of your DJ's at the CT Congress. As that when I started to DJ, my goal was to one day DJ at a Salsa Congress. I'm a DJ that plays from the heart (flow) and lays on the line every time I'm on set. Hopefully this will give you a insight of what I bring and what I'm able to do. Thank You again and its a honor to be asked to be part of your event!!!! * Faceboook: DjMr G Cue * Twitter handle: DjMr G Cue * Contact number: 860-518-8471 (cell)
